A vow beyond time

There are stories that seem too delicate to belong to this world, threads of love spun so fine that only the heart can see them. The story of Katerine and Antoan is one such tale—a story of souls who carried a promise across centuries, a vow beyond time. Katerine lived her life like most others, surrounded by the ordinary rhythm of days, yet there was always a quiet restlessness in her. She could never explain why certain places felt so familiar, why some faces in the crowd made her heart tremble with recognition, or why she often dreamt of walking through landscapes she had never seen. There was, hidden in her, a sense that her story had begun long before her birth. When she underwent a regression session—half out of curiosity, half out of longing—her life changed. Images rose from the depths of her soul: ancient streets, forgotten faces, and a promise whispered under the stars. A young woman, centuries ago, stood before a man she loved beyond measure. Their hands were joined,...

The Spiritual Dimensions of Mathematics

There is an analogy between arithmetic and geometric concepts and well-known processes in cosmic and psychic life.
(Teacher Peter Deunov)

"Mathematics can be found in everything, in the Universe as well as within man.
Mathematical sciences are far from being just a collection of abstractions; they correspond to our psyche. A proof of this lies in the four fundamental operations. If I ask: 'Do you know the four mathematical operations?' you will answer: 'Of course, we do: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.'

Well, don’t be so sure, because these operations become extremely difficult when they must be performed correctly. Many people, for instance, suffer because they have made an ill-considered 'addition' with someone and later do not know how to carry out the operation of 'subtraction'!

That which corresponds to addition within us is the heart—it only knows how to add, constantly accumulating until everything becomes entangled. The mind is responsible for subtraction. The soul multiplies, while the spirit divides—to distribute, to give.

One of the most famous passages from the Gospel is when a teacher of Jewish law asked Jesus: 'Teacher, which is the greatest commandment?' And He answered:
'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.' (Matthew 22:37)

With this answer, Jesus explains that man consists of four psychic principles: heart, soul, mind, and spirit (strength, because only the spirit possesses true strength), and that these four principles must be placed in service of the Divine. How? Teacher Peter Deunov reveals this in his guidance:

  • Have a heart pure as crystal,
  • A mind bright as the Sun,
  • A soul vast as the Universe,
  • A spirit powerful as God and one with God.

This means that we must love God with the purity of our heart, with the light of our mind, with the vastness of our soul, and with the strength of our spirit. In this way, the Teacher illuminates for us the teaching of Jesus Christ.

The heart must be pure—that is, free from selfish emotions, from all desires and temptations that turn it into a swamp, for the murky waters of a swamp do not reflect the splendor of Heaven. The mind must be bright—free from the dust accumulated along winding paths, which prevents it from seeing clearly. The soul must be vast, and it expands through love: when filled with love, we are able to embrace the entire Universe.

And finally, the spirit becomes strong when it connects with the Creator, for true strength comes from the Divine Source."

The following excerpt I have selected comes from the book "Living with the Himalayan Masters" by Swami Rama. It is rare for a sadhu to explain the philosophical significance of mathematical science. Since it is associatively related to the theme of mathematical knowledge, I integrate and combine it within the context of the previous excerpts from Teacher Jesus, Teacher Peter Deunov from Rila, Bulgaria, and Teacher Omraam Mikhaël Aïvanhov (in truth, from the One and Only Teacher—God). The sadhu from whom Swami Rama learned for some time was one of the most prominent mathematicians of India, named Chakravarti.

Swami Rama says the following:
"This swami was very kind and also taught me philosophy through mathematics. Each number was explained with verses from the Upanishads. From zero to one hundred, he described the philosophical significance of mathematical science.

Mathematics operates with the number one. All other numbers are composed of the same unit, a collection of such units. Similarly, there is only one absolute Reality, and all names and forms in the Universe are numerous manifestations of the same One. As he drew in the sand on the banks of the Ganges with his staff, he sketched a triangle and explained to me how life should be like an equilateral triangle. Just as all numbers arise from a single point that cannot be measured, so too the entire Universe has emerged from an immeasurable void. Life is like a wheel, which he compared to a circle or zero. This circle is the expansion of a point.

He used another analogy as well—there are two points called 'death' and 'birth,' and life here is the line between the two. The unknown part of life is an infinite line...

The last day that this swami taught me was wonderful.
'Now, first write a zero,' he said. 'And after it, write a one: 01. Every zero has value if the one is placed before it, but the zero has no value if the one does not come first. All things in this world are like zero, and without awareness of the One Reality, they have absolutely no value. When we remember the One Reality, life gains meaning. Otherwise, it is merely a burdensome weight.'

This swami departed into the deepest Himalayan wilderness, and I never saw him again. I am grateful to the Teachers who took time from their priceless lives to teach me."
