Morning. A little past five. The light hasn't yet decided if it wants to be day and hangs in the air like dust, like a hesitation. I breathe slowly and listen to the house being silent. In these first minutes, before the world asks anything of me, I have the feeling that I can finally see more clearly. Not outward, but inward. And I think that for my whole life I have been looking in the wrong direction. For a long time I believed life was happening to me. That people come, they wound, they love, they betray, that circumstances arrange themselves like randomly thrown stones.
