Preserved Light, or Love Taking Form
Sometimes, as evening descends upon the world and the room gradually sinks into the gentle silence of a passing day, I find myself thinking about all the things human hands create and leave behind. Objects that pass from one pair of hands to another, bread kneaded at dawn, apples ripened beneath the sun, garments woven from threads, books in which someone has gathered years of thought, and the small, ordinary things without which our lives would look entirely different. And gradually, a thought begins to take shape in my mind: perhaps every genuine creation is a form of stored energy, a light that has acquired a material form so that it can be passed on. Sunlight touches the leaves, the earth receives the rain, the roots draw what they need from the soil, and the tree, without haste and without explaining its existence, transforms all of this into fruit.
